Head Chief Winemaker, Julian Grounds, guide you through the upcoming release of Craggy Range’s 2019 Prestige wines. In what marks the first return to a full suite of Prestige wines for three years, 2019 is readily appearing to be one of the most anticipated vintages in our history. Julian will outline how a combination of near-perfect vintage conditions, low crops and vine age has resulted in intensity and energy in the wines where the quality is undeniable. 2019 also marks the first release with Julian at the helm, and as such he will give his insight into respecting the history whilst striving for constant evolution and improvement.
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop, entry is given on a first-in basis.

The Stations
Let me paint you a picture… you’re relaxing in a bean bag, looking out over the lake to the spectacular escarpment of Te Mata Peak, the Hawke’s Bay sun is shining and you have a glass of Te Muna Sauvignon Blanc in one hand and a mussel fritter in the other. Surely this is heaven on earth!
Our lakefront seafood station has a mouth watering menu alongside our crisp, aromatic whites.
Our restaurant kitchen garden, tucked away at the far end of Giants, is transformed for the day into the perfect afternoon party venue. Great wine and delicious bites (think goats cheese & green pea quiche and lamb shoulder tagine) all come together for a spot you’ll find hard to leave.
Arguably the best view in the house, the Restaurant Terrace is the perfect spot to take in the scenes, enjoy a cheese plate and plan your next move.
Chocolate, caramel, strawberry and coffee. Have we got your attention? Just a taste or hang out all day, no judgment on how many times you visit the dessert station!
Our friends at Hawthorne Coffee are here for the day too if you need a little pick me up.
Mary's
Our newest addition to the Craggy Range family, Mary’s is a neighbourhood restaurant in Havelock North who will be popping up on our front lawn for the day.
She serves an epic burger, so make sure you follow the yellow umbrellas and stop by for a bite.
Pre-release tasting of the 2019 Prestige Collection
Get an early look and taste through the full suite of 2019 Prestige Collection wines before their release in June. The 2019 vintage is highly anticipated, with Chief Winemaker, Julian Grounds, describing the growing conditions that season as ‘near-perfect’.
Back Vintage tasting & Cellar Door
We’ve raided the cellar and pulled out a few gems to showcase the age-ability of our wines. Get a glimpse of what you could see a few years down the line for your Craggy Range wines, if you can wait that long!
Our highly knowledgeable cellar door team are here to answer all your questions, and take care of purchases on the day.
The Entertainment
Join local singer/songwriter Eilish Rose at Mary’s.
Furthermore, make sure you keep an eye out for the Craggy Range amphitheatre and Sophia barrel hall for some yet to be released performances.
