Celebrating 25 Vintages:
Craggy Range marks a milestone in Napa Valley
As we prepare to release our 2024 Prestige Collection, we're marking a special milestone, 25 years of winemaking at Craggy Range.
The Peabody family have always said that the people of Craggy Range are at the forefront of our success. So what better way to mark a quarter of a century of winemaking, than to toast with great wine and food.
Recently, Chief Winemaker Ben Tombs and
Executive Director and family member David Peabody travelled stateside to host a special lunch in the heart of Napa Valley, raising a glass or two to the memories and friendships forged over twenty-five years of winemaking in Hawke's Bay and Martinborough.
Vintage 2024 is our 25th, and one worth celebrating.
A Gathering of Craggy Range Winemakers, Past and Present
It was an early start to harvest in Napa this year, so a few familiar faces couldn't make it. Around twenty people gathered, interns, cellar hands and winemakers from harvests spanning the decades, many now scattered across the globe. It was a rare chance to bring them back together under one roof, beautifully captured by Cary, winemaker and photographer.
We opened some very special back vintages from our cellar for the occasion, wines that tell the story of those very people and seasons that shaped them.
Many of those seated at the table have gone on to do incredible things of their own, making great wine and building incredible wineries all over the world, carrying a little piece of Craggy Range with them.
Remembering Doug Wisor, Our First Winemaker
The lunch was also a moment to remember our very first winemaker, the late Doug Wisor, a young American who left a lasting impression on Craggy Range from the very beginning, and who laid the foundations for the wines we make today. His fingerprints remain on everything that has evolved since.
Of all the incredible wines tasted from over the years, one of the highlights was 'My Selection' - Doug's Block 1 Pinot Noir from vintage 2003, labelled with a reproduction of one of the last notes that he left on the blending bench.
Craggy Range: Built for the Long Haul
Safeguarded by a 1,000-year family trust, Craggy Range is in
it for the long term. Now twenty five years in, the vision remains the same, and we look forward to what the future holds.
