Community

Craggy Range is deeply committed to both environmental and social sustainability. We believe that being great stewards of the land, also means being active, caring members of our community.

A Children's Christmas

In 2018, we launched A Children's Christmas Foundation, an initiative created to support children across Hawke's Bay and the Wairarapa who need it most. Along with the generous support of our partnering businesses, has led us to working with over 45 charities and organisations to bring joy and hope to thousands of local families.

Since its inception, the initiative has delivered more than 25,000 Santa sacks filled with gifts of sporting gear, school resources, books, toys, and scooters. Each sack is designed not only to bring a smile on Christmas morning but to encourage play, learning, and time spent outdoors.

For us, sustainability is about more than what we grow, but who we grow with, and that includes creating brighter futures for the youngest members of our community.

The Arts Foundation

We are proud to partner with The Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi, supporting New Zealand's most inspiring artists and creatives, and helping foster a vibrant cultural landscape for generations to come.

Just as great wine is an expression of place, time and craft, so too is art. Both are born of patience, perspective, and the pursuit of something deeply meaningful.

The Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi, is New Zealand's only national arts organisation powered entirely by people. Since 1998, the foundation has awarded over $13 million to New Zealand artists and organisations, uplifting creative voices that enrich us all.

The Peabody family's deep interest in the arts has long been a part of the Craggy Range story, and our partnership with The Arts Foundation reflects that passion - sharing our commitment to championing artists and creatives across the country whose work will enrich the lives of future generations.

Top 100 Sommeliers New Zealand

Craggy Range is proud to sponsor the inaugural Top 100 Sommeliers New Zealand. Following its successful UK debut in 2023, and Spain in 2024, the initiative now comes to the southern hemisphere in partnership with renowned Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas MS.

This annual ranking recognises the true depth and breadth of the sommelier profession. The list highlights individuals who demonstrate exceptional wine knowledge, leadership in cellar and list management, industry recognition, and an unwavering commitment to hospitality excellence.

Biodynamics Association New Zealand

To support the Biodynamic Association, our head gardener Jennifer Lyons leads the seasonal prep-making events at Giants Estate, which not only fosters a wonderful community connection but also a generous sharing of knowledge. The preparations are used in our kitchen gardens and vineyards, and also within the wider Biodynamic community right across New Zealand.

Jen has led the development of our Kitchen Garden at Giants Winery, applying biodynamic principles from the outset. Her work reflects our broader vision - to work in harmony with nature, enhance soil health, and create a more self-sustaining food system. With a close collaboration between garden and kitchen, and a shared commitment to quality and provenance, Jen’s leadership supports Craggy Range’s holistic approach to sustainability and our 2030 environmental goals.

We build lasting relationships within our community by supporting causes that bring people together, spark joy, and create meaningful shared experiences.
