A Global Network | A World of Excellence

Sharing Hawke's Bay with the world

Since Hawke's Bay's admission to the Great Wine Capitals (GWC) Global Network in 2023, we've watched our region take its place alongside Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Mendoza, Bilbao-Rioja, and the other storied names that make up this exclusive international community - eleven in total, spanning six countries. It's a designation earned, not given - assessed against the depth of a region's wine industry, its history, its tourism offering, its education and business credentials, and the character of the place itself. New Zealand's oldest wine growing region, first planted in 1851, wears it well.

As one of only a handful of Hawke's Bay wineries operating under the GWC banner, we see it as both an honour and a responsibility. It's a story worth telling, and one we share with our guests every day.

Innovative Wine Experiences

Our Wine Experiences bring the GWC story to life - our sense of place, excellence in wine, and innovative tourism, all in one visit. Guests come away understanding what membership of this global network means, and connected to our fellow Great Wine Capitals, from the vineyards of Bordeaux to the valleys of Mendoza.

For many visitors, discovering that Hawke's Bay sits alongside these names deepens their visit.

We are proud to share our wines and the stories that make them, layered through our year-round offering, allowing us to showcase Hawke's Bay not just as a wine region, but as a wine capital of the world.

Hosting the World: Great Wine Capitals International Annual Conference 2026

We take pride in being one of the select Hawke's Bay operators helping bring the Network's presence to life, layered into our own story.

That role comes into focus in October 2026, when Hawke's Bay hosts the Great Wine Capitals International Annual Conference for the first time - welcoming delegates from Bordeaux, Mendoza, Adelaide, Napa Valley, and beyond.

Craggy Range is proud to be part of the programme of experiences developed for visiting delegates, offering our cellar door, restaurant, and lodge as one of the settings where the Hawke's Bay chapter of this global story will be told. It's a natural extension of the work we already do every day, and a chance to show, not just tell, why this region belongs among the world's Great Wine Capitals.

Growing Hawke's Bay on the World Stage

Our Giants Estate in Hawke's Bay is the very heart of Craggy Range, and offers guests a complete wine tourism experience, with genuine hospitality, award-winning dining, immersive wine tastings and boutique accommodation.

By championing the Great Wine Capitals story, welcoming international visitors year-round, and investing in the people who make these experiences possible, we're contributing to a bigger picture: a Hawke's Bay that is recognised globally, visited meaningfully, and felt economically - for us, and for the wider region.

As the newest member of this prestigious global network, Hawke’s Bay offers a distinctive setting for this flagship event, inviting wine and tourism industry professionals from around the world to explore A World of New.
