Aroha, Te Muna, Martinborough

Aroha is a word in the Maori language of New Zealand, meaning love. Reflective of its namesake, Aroha is handcrafted with passion from unique parcels of Pinot Noir.

The pedigree of particular blocks in our Te Muna vineyard is paramount to the quality of this wine. At over 25 years of vine age, our best block are identified by a narrow band of clay over stone, which contributes to the balance between power and beauty.

When crafting this wine, we look for the quality of tannin to be the ultimate driver, and with Aroha, the velvet line provides unmistakable length.

Le Sol, Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Hawke's Bay

Le Sol (the soil) is crafted from Syrah grown in the stoniest parts of our Gimblett Gravels Estate, planted to a heritage MS clone, brought to New Zealand in the 1840s.

Le Sol vines are intensively managed, guided by hand 13-14 times across the season. It is always aromatically pure with a luscious yet elegant mid-palate and a distinctive, fine tannin finish. Rich, evocative, yet refined, Le Sol has evolved since its first release to achieve that balance between intense yet floral Syrah in its purest form.

The longevity of this wine is never in doubt; however, there is an increasing approachability upon release, so its beauty can be appreciated now while also anticipating future occasions when it will truly shine.

Sophia, Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Hawke's Bay

Sophia, the height of elegance and longevity, predominantly showcases Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Crafted at our Giants winery, Sophia embodies opulence and ripe flavours with a tannin structure supporting extensive ageing.

With vines now over 25 years old, our distinct Merlot blocks contribute aromatic elegance and plush power. Evolving winemaking techniques yield depth and balance with silk-laden tannins accentuated by elevated perfume.

Les Beaux Cailloux, Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Hawke's Bay

Sourced from select blocks, Les Beaux Cailloux (the beautiful pebbles) is our most pure, complex and refined Chardonnay.

We look for restraint in our winemaking of this varietal, and believe it reflects both our style and the distinct terroir it comes from. The minerality, savouriness and energy of this wine are entirely unique - attributed to the concentration of stones and our considered farming approach.

The Quarry, Gimblett Gravels Vineyard, Hawke's Bay

The Quarry is made from the best parcels of hand-selected Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes growing in the heart of our Gimblett Gravels Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay.

This vineyard was once destined to be a quarry before local vignerons protected the land for vines. The wine is a tribute to their tenacity. Only made in the best vintages from selected barriques, this rare, strongly structured wine will reward cellaring for a decade or more from vintage.
