The Quarry is crafted from the finest parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot grown in the heart of our Gimblett Gravels Vineyard in Hawke’s Bay. This land, once destined to become a quarry, was saved for vines by the determination of local vignerons - a spirit honoured in this wine. Produced only in exceptional vintages and matured in selected barriques, The Quarry is a rare, powerfully structured wine that will reward cellaring for up to a decade from vintage.

In the heart of Hawke’s Bay, the Gimblett Gravels wine-growing district is one of the most prized terroirs in New Zealand - and Craggy Range is proud to be among its earliest champions.

Formed by the shifting path of the Ngaruroro River over 150 years ago, the Gimblett Gravels is defined by its free-draining stony soils and warm, sun-soaked days. These unique conditions produce wines of remarkable depth, structure, and complexity - particularly Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, for which the region is now world-renowned, along with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
