2024 Pinot Noir, Block 27

Te Muna Road, Martinborough

Thick | Brambly | Electric

Block 27 was planted at our Te Muna Estate in Martinborough during the spring of 2019. Although still young, Block 27 consistently holds its own during blending. It’s a site we are keeping a close eye on for the future.

True to the Abel clone, the wine carries a dark-fruited, brooding core that brings both depth and drive. Powerful yet poised, this Pinot Noir captures the distinctive energy of our lower Te Muna Estate terraces.

Te Muna Road, Martinborough

The Te Muna Road Vineyard is located some 7 kilometres outside of the Martinborough township.

Two distinct terraces make up the vineyard, the higher comprising very old, stony clay-infused soils perfect for Pinot Noir. The lower terrace of younger stony soils interleaved with limestone provides an excellent environment for Sauvignon Blanc. The cooler climate of Martinborough ensures the wine is aromatic with steely minerality, while the rocky soils give intensity to the fruit.

The region’s warm, dry summers and mild winters lead to complex and structured wines with subtle aromatics and an elegant finish.
