Sophia, the height of elegance and longevity, predominantly showcases Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, and a portion of Cabernet Sauvignon. Crafted at our Giants Estate Winery, Sophia embodies opulence and ripe flavours with a tannin structure supporting extensive ageing.

With vines now over 25 years old, our distinct Merlot blocks contribute aromatic elegance and plush power. Evolving winemaking techniques yield depth and balance with silk-laden tannins accentuated by elevated perfume.

In the heart of Hawke’s Bay, the Gimblett Gravels wine-growing district is one of the most prized terroirs in New Zealand - and Craggy Range is proud to be among its earliest champions.

Formed by the shifting path of the Ngaruroro River over 150 years ago, the Gimblett Gravels is defined by its free-draining stony soils and warm, sun-soaked days. These unique conditions produce wines of remarkable depth, structure, and complexity - particularly Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot, for which the region is now world-renowned, along with Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
