This vintage, we introduced these new Clayvers to our Gimblett Gravels winery in Hawke’s Bay - these ceramic vessels allow us to age our Pinot Noir with exceptional purity and precision, showcasing a block in its truest form.
Unlike traditional oak, the unique ceramic composition allows gentle oxygen exchange without evaporation, removing the need for topping up. They also give us greater control over oak influence, resulting in Pinot Noir with incredible intensity and a true sense of place. These vessels are now filled with our Prestige Aroha blocks - we look forward to seeing how they evolve.
Our Hawke’s Bay and Martinborough teams recently came together at our Gimblett Gravels winery to taste the first samples from the 2025 vintage - a moment to celebrate both the fruits of our labour and some special team milestones.
“This was the earliest harvest start in Craggy Range’s history - an exciting opportunity to capture Chardonnay at its freshest and explore new possibilities” - Jonathan Hamlet, National Vineyard Manager.
With the early kick-off came a long nine-week harvest - a huge thank you to our dedicated teams for their incredible work throughout the season!
Our Pinot Noir is handpicked from the upper terraces of our Te Muna Road vineyard in Martinborough, where the complex soils and harsh winds produce wines of exceptional purity and character.
The 2024 release is intensely perfumed with lavender, jasmine and rich sweet spice. It is bold, yet impeccably balanced with a powerful palate and characteristic silk-laden tannins.
Available now, enjoy with some delicious roast duck breast, braised meats or grilled vegetables - this is a wine that will age gracefully.
